BACKGROUND:

Birmingham Airport approached McCarthy Associates to provide a design and specification for a new reception Counter to Diamond House, which is the main Administration Building for Birmingham Airport staff.

SERVICES PROVIDED:

McCarthy & Associates design staff worked in close consultation with the Facilities Manager for Diamond House, to design a new counter, which complimented the existing building. Providing a new more modern and welcoming facility for visitors and staff arriving at Diamond House.

The eventual counter design was developed after a series of drawings and ideas were discussed. Once an overall concept was agreed, detailed drawings were provided through to sign-off. A full visualisation of the new counter, with examples of finishes and materials were provided for the Directors at the airport to see and sign-off.

McCarthy & Associates then commissioned a preferred specialist Joinery Manufacturer to manufacture the counter, to the agreed specification.

RESULTS

The end result is a stunning reception counter, with contrast veneers, and subtle up lighting to enhance the overall effect. The counter has a full cable management facility, and is designed with split-level counter to allow for disabled access, as required by the DDA regulations.
