Project: Eldec Building.
Expenditure: undisclosed
Timescale: 16 weeks
Works Programme Timescale: 8 weeks
BACKGROUND:
During the early part of 2005,
Dunlop Aerospace Braking Systems approved the business case to refurbish an existing 2 storey facility on their existing site, and transfer over 140 engineers to the new facility from other parts of the site.
The objective was to create a world class facility, with a more space effective open plan office, and a more functional, modern working environment for the Dunlop teams.
SERVICES PROVIDED :
McCarthy and Associates were selected to provide a range of services, including interior design, space planning, furniture specification and procurement, and move management, to relocate 140 staff to the new facility :
Phase 1
McCarthy and Associates worked closely with Dunlop to develop the furniture specification, and provide space planning to accommodate 140 staff over 2 floors in the Eldec building.
Visualisations of each floor were provided for Dunlop staff to assess.
A different colour scheme was developed on each floor, creating a visually stimulating environment, with a strong corporate aesthetic.
Power/Data, with connecting leads were provided as a “plug in” feature on the screens for each workstation. This provided a good solution to the IT requirement, avoiding the need for lots of power poles, or under floor trunking.
Phase 2
McCarthy and Associates move management team began a series of detailed site meetings with all Dunlop staff involved in the move.
Storage and filing were assessed, and a move timing plan was agreed to move 140 staff over a 3 week period, in a series of phased moves.
