Job Title: Project Co-ordinator/Estimator

Company and Location: McCarthy & Associates Ltd, Coventry, West Midlands

Job Description: The Project Co-ordinator will be responsible for :

  • Preparation of and assistance with the build up of project budget cost analysis.
  • Day to day assistance with project control and contractor liaison.
  • Preparation and assistance with project timing control.
  • Preparation of tender documents, including site visits with contractors for tender applications.
  • Assisted control of snagging.
  • Ensuring projects are handled in line with operational procedures & relevant legislation.
  • Liaising with clients and other departments within the company during a project.
  • Completing and submitting time-sheets and mileage sheets on a weekly basis.
Skills / Experience Required :

HNC, degree or similar commercial qualification in a fit-out or Construction-related field, and / or 1 to 2 years experience in a similar role.

Knowledge of the commercial design and build industry and evidence of relevant training and experience required.

Ability to show understanding of Local Authority legislation, Planning Applications and Building Regulations Approvals.

Good organisational skills and the ability to communicate at all levels plus excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Experience of Microsoft Office software essential, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Project.

Training Programme:
  • All statutory training – (ie, ISO9001, BS7799, Health and Safety).
  • Sales Admin and Accounts procedural training.
  • Attend relevant seminars and workshops as and when required, including CDM updates carried out by company S,H&E Consultant.
Role Integration:

The role of Project Co-ordinator / Estimator for the company is important as there are responsibilities to the Projects Manager, Projects Director and to clients to ensure projects are managed successfully.

It is important to refer to the company’s Operations manual for guidelines on Sales Admin and Accounts procedures, ensuring all paperwork and correspondence meets the standard.

In addition, constant liaison with all departments is necessary to ensure projects run efficiently.

Key to this role is effective communication at all levels, a customer-led approach, together with a positive and helpful attitude to both staff and customers alike.

This will ensure that McCarthy Group’s aim of total customer satisfaction is achieved.
