The project involved the phased construction of two waste storage facilities within a live NHS hospital, including civils, structural works, roofing, MEP modifications and full reinstatement.

Delivery within a fully operational environment required a carefully planned methodology to maintain uninterrupted hospital services. Critical functions, including fire escape routes and refuse collection, remained operational, supported by compliant temporary M&E systems.

Public, patient and staff safety was prioritised throughout. Measures included controlled work zones, out-of-hours activity, temporary fire strategy adjustments, DBS-checked personnel and regular safety briefings.

Close coordination with the estates team and stakeholders ensured service continuity, particularly for vulnerable occupants. A robust logistics strategy, including managed access routes and just-in-time deliveries, minimised disruption within the constrained hospital setting.
